History

TAM Airlines also TAM Líneas Aéreas operates flights to 42 destinations in Brazil and 19 in Latin America, the United States and Europe. Through agreements with domestic and foreign companies, reaches 92 Brazilian airports and 92 international destinations, including Asia.
 
The company was founded in 1976 and is the leader in the Brazilian domestic market, with a market share of 38.7% (05/2012). It also remains the leader among Brazilian companies that operate routes to the outside, with 91.7% of the market in May.
 
TAM Airlines is a member of Star Alliance since June 2012 and the company is also part of society airline LATAM Group SA, a result of its association with LAN Airlines SA.
 
This combination creates one of the largest airlines in the world: 159 passenger aircrafts and about 312 alliance cargo aircrafts. This fleet connects over 150 destinations in 22 countries, in addition to 169 cargo destinations in 27 countries.
